Clay I Final Exam January 2010

Please choose this or the Web Portfolio to showcase what you have learned this semester.

You’ve just finished taking Clay I, during which you were introduced to hand building techniques: pinch, slab, and coil, as well as to the ceramic work of other artists.

Please complete the following questions and be ready to hand in a printed document on Thursday.

What piece do you think you learned the most from?
• Describe what you learned. (It might not be your favorite piece.)

What piece(s) are you the most proud of?
• Describe how you came up with the idea of making that particular piece or pieces.
• Describe the techniques you used to construct it (them).
• Tell us why you are so proud of it/them.
• What, if anything, would you do differently next time?

Which piece was the most challenging for you?
• Describe what the challenge was.
• Describe how you handled the challenge.
• Describe what you would do differently if you were to make it again.

Looking at the body of your work, how has the quality or sophistication of your work increased?

How has the influence of other artists or classmates affected your work?

You need to include:
o Your name
o The date
o The course name
o Thorough answers to all above questions
o A pictorial overview of the work you did during the course of the semester, especially the pieces about which you write.

If you need to use a camera, you may. Otherwise, open iPhoto and go into the teacher files that I will share. Hopefully you will be able to find all your work there.
